Top speed in gears

What up zx14.com Im the new guy . I have a blk zx14 with 3000miles on it. Most races I encounter are during regular interstate riding.. ie THE ROLL ON.... So what is your max speed in third and fourth gear. I found that third is 150 something and fourth is 170 something. Has anyone tried this and what were your results. no one has passed me yet.

Thanks for the feedback.. But do the calculations to engine bleed off which should be 12,100. Not engine redline your engine redline starts at 11,000 but your engine rev limiter comes on at 12,100 your compression ratio. Dont have a gearing caculator please respond Remember your engine rev limiter is set to compression ratio

What makes you say that. zx1kr said his shut down at 11500. He said it hit 200 on his dyno before the dyno shut off. Its a topic all about this. Im sure someone will find it.

I hope your not insinuating compression ratio determines revlimiter

No... not at all just looking for conformation. Its hard to watch the road, RPM, and the speedo.
Not to mention the Police.

When you are out on your 14 just take any gear to the rev limiter. I find that the 14 will go to 12,000 rpm before it hits the limiter..... Do it and tell me what you think.

This observation may be of interest.

Ran 190.4mph over the weekend. This was a VERY accurately measured speed at a top speed event.
What I noticed was that the tacho was up around 10700rpm and the real rpm for 191mph is 10100.
The tacho was reading at least 600rpm high, call it 6% in round figures.
Going up through the gears the enging rev-limiter was operating when the tacho was reading 11500 rpm. Taking off the 6% error that gives a true engine rev limit of 10800rpm. Which means an absolute top speed of 204 on standard gearing, (if you have enough power).

So there you have it. The bike's speedo and tacho are incorrect. The real maximum rpm appears to be 10800.

Thanks BobC

First, I also own a Honda 1998 CBR1100xx and there is not much of an error within a XX.

But now I have a ZX14 and I love it. But it seems to have errors in the tach, speedo, Variable Dyno computations. Now I see why the numbers I first posted were so far off. But after riding the ZX14 you dont mind the errors. And I have ridden the XX once, since I got the ZX14 ........smile

My XX doesn't seem all that far off - however my XX is putting down 160/90 at the wheel in Texas heat
